Winter time is quickly approaching, here in Louisiana, so it’s time for me to start thinking more about skincare. I was born with severe asthma and it’s something I have had to deal with all my life. Along with it comes a degree of eczema issues that seem to flair up even more in colder months. Aside from my routine slathering of body lotions, I have started to pay more attention to what soaps I am using. In steps a more natural approach with goat milk soaps.

I was introduced to the homemade and handmade soap making process through a lovely lady (and former graphic designer), Andrea of the No Nothing Ranch company. Andrea shared her journey with me in the soap making business and told me all about her precious Lamachan earless goats, their milk, and the natural ingredients that she puts into her products. I’ve been wanting to make a change in the soap I use on my body for awhile so I decided to give this a try. I love supporting small businesses, too, when I can. Andrea’s Earless Goat Milk Soaps are so creamy, rich and smell fantastic without all the drying properties and chemicals that are in store bought soap. I will say, after using the goat milk soap for a month, I notice the huge difference between it and my previous IVORY body wash.

My first soap pickings were the scents: Lavender, Peaches & Scream, Energy, and Honeydew Melon. Soap ingredients include (but not limited to): Pure olive oil, Organic virgin coconut oil, Hand drawn goats milk, RSPO palms oil, fragrance oils and tumeric for natural color. Her prices range from $9- 11.25 USD for a 5-7oz. bar. The bars are thick enough to cut down into quarters for hand washing, or just smaller sizes for bath and shower. I personally love a chunky bar of soap to shower with my washcloth, so I leave mine whole. In the future, there will be “Tester” sized pieces available for $4-4.25 USD which is great to try out different scents. The Earless Goat Milk Soap packaging is simple and environmentally conscious as well, with recycled paper for labels.

I love these soaps! My skin doesn’t feel dry or itchy right out of the shower. The dermatologist suggested to stay away from warm showers and opt for lukewarm to alleviate the discomfort some, but in Winter time that is a hell no for me. Now, I can enjoy my warm showers without any issues. I have also noticed that this soap is lasting me a lot longer than my body wash. A entire 6oz. bar lasted me a month and Mr. Right and I shared it. I haven’t repurchased bottled body wash in a long while and neither has my fiancé. The soaps may seem expensive, especially if you’re used to spending around $7 for a pack of 6 store bought soap. However, these are the better value for us. I’ve added 5 more bars and 3 tester sizes to our stash and I am sure it is to last us well past February. The new scents I picked up for Mr. Right were: Activated Charcoal, Tobacco & Bay Leaf, and Kentucky Bourbon. For me I purchased: Rose Quartz, Pure Goats Milk, Sandlewood Vanilla and Energy.
