Wedding Countdown
February 26, 2020 | Wow, time really has flown by! I will be getting married to Mr. Right in only six more months. If you haven’t read already, you can catch up on how we chose the right wedding for us, in my last post. So, what has been going on since then? Let’s see…

Planning for a civil ceremony was the best idea Mr. Right could have ever suggested. In fact, I should have listened to him sooner. Nevertheless, some planning is still involved. Here is what’s on my checklist and a break down of everything. I’ve already reserved our civil ceremony date with the Justice of the Peace, at the end of last year. So September 8th is our date. <3
March – 6 Months Mark
During next month, I need to finalize my guest list. A wedding party at my home is an intimate gathering and everyone and their second cousin will not be invited. This will segue into my decision for invitations. I plan to order samples through Etsy, as the glitzy and elegant style I am after can be found there, with little work on my part. Once samples arrive (hopefully in 1-2 weeks) I can make my final decision, work with the shop on details and have them made! I’m starting early on this task so I have plenty time to ship them out a month before the wedding.
April – 5 Months Mark
At the five month mark, I plan to focus on scheduling our wedding cake consultation and placing any necessary deposits down. Upon visiting a local bakery (that Mr. Right adores and reminds him of back home), I asked for a price quote on wedding cakes. Sadly, they couldn’t give me a “ball park” answer without a consultation. So wedding cake tasting for April it is! I am hoping we could stay in the budget of $500-600. Especially since the wedding party won’t be that big. Mr. Right has his eyes set on the largest tiered cake possible…which I am surprised at, but not disappointed in. Along with dessert, I’d like to pin point where our catered foods will be from, make calls and get prices and time
May – 4 Months Mark
At the time of this post, the weather is definitely kind to us..so my usual track visits have stopped. However, by May I am praying the weather is nice so we can get out and exercise. We have been reigning in our diet (with a few slips!), but what will really shed any unwanted pounds is being active with walking and jogging. May will be my month for consistent exercise.
June – 3 Months Mark
The month of June will be focused on our dress attire. Along with what we will be wearing for our actual ceremony and reception, I want us to plan out at least two outfits for formal photos for next month (July). I am hoping by this month that we also have kicked butt with our diet and shed a few pounds π
In June I will also be preparing any decor materials for both my homemade bouquet and for our wedding party table set-up. I hope to have an area off our living room wall to be decorated with faux florals, clothed table and the like for a more festive wedding vibe.
July – 2 Months Mark
It’s down to the wire by July! This is the month I hope we secure a schedule for our formal photos. Mr. Right and I never had an engagement photo session, so I’d like casual dress photos of us as well as ones of us in our wedding attire. Since we’re not having a formal wedding, this will be our memorabilia of the occasion! I’d really like to have these photos printed and used as decor for our wedding party…so all the guests can see how lovely we are all jazzed up π
August – 1 Month Til’ I Do!
By this month, whatever I haven’t done that takes more than a week to plan is out the window; so let’s pray it’s all together! The last couple weeks in this month will be spent doing the legal stuff to make us official..the marriage license! I can’t secure it too soon or too late, as it is a time sensitive document and must be signed and returned within a week.

Overall, its a solid plan if I can financially stay on track. Currently, I have a couple loose end layaways on things for my doll collection to tie up, but after that all of my funds will be going into wedding plans. I haven’t thought much about a Honeymoon, but I am sure that will be happening in 2021. A cruise vacation is something we’ve always been interested in but that may take time when applying for a passport. Plus, it’ll be easier once my name is already officially changed…which could be a six month long process in itself. Nonetheless, I am excited for it ALL!
