Summer has finally arrived and it brings along a lot of colorful and fun makeup. With the month of June also being Pride Month, a lot of brands are serving up all the necessities to get the colorful looks of your dreams. I haven’t chatted Wishlist makeup since May, since my wallet had to recover from my splurges with Colourpop, Juvia’s Place, Profusion Cosmetics and Wet n Wild, ya girl had to take a break. Not to mention a lot of these I haven’t even completely finished testing to review!

BUT, I couldn’t stay away from the beauty buzz for long with the new unveiling of Jeffree Star Cosmetics Summer 2019 Collection! I know, there is a lot of controversy surrounding his brand and I’ve even received some unsavory and unsolicited opinions about me (as a person of color) using his products, but honestly I do not care. I don’t usually have my ear to the ground for gossip so I am the last to know about it; I’m just here for the makeup. His cosmetics have never disappointed me and I always feel that I get my money worth when I purchase them; which is more than I can say for a lot of brands. With that being said, I am drooling over the bright and colorful debut this Summer.
There is a lot to go around this Summer with eye, lip, and face products a long with accessories and merchandise! In this post, I’m only going to focus on the items I hope to purchase, but I encourage you to watch the full video to see juicy details on everything. Mark your calanders, ’cause June 21st is the big day!
JSC Jawbreaker & Jawbreaker Mini Eyeshadow palettes

The Jawbreaker Palette is probably what I am most excited for in this collection, next to the accessory bags. This palette features 24 shades ($58 USD), while the Jawbreaker Mini Palette features 9 shades ($28 USD). Although, I am a bit salty over the huge price difference from 24 to 9 eyeshadows in a palette, I’ll probably end up getting both as they seem to have different colors in each and they are unique enough from the other shadows in my collection. Packaing always does me in as well. Always.
As much as I love pastel colors, translating to an eyeshadow and then in turn expecting them to show up like in-pan on darker skin tones, does give me pause. The majority of these matte shades are lighter pastel colors. Buttery matte shadows are a signature of JSC eyeshadow and pigmentation has always been amazing, but I’ve not had any good experiences with pastels before. I am really hoping JSC doesn’t let me down with this color choice. He definitely opted for a different version of the rainbow colors I am used to seeing. I’m excited and anxious all at once.

The Jawbreaker Mini, although expensive (especially since ColourPop has minis for only $18 after tax/shipping!) it is still interesting enough for me to give it a second look. I love the color palette, but it isn’t anything completely new from what my collection already has. The only plus side, is that I have some of my favorite colors all in one place for easy travel, instead of taking several different palettes with me (which sucks when you’re packing for vacation, like I soon will be!)
Jeffree Star Cosmetics Lip Scrubs

I think one of the least talked about products that JSC offers is their lip scrubs ($12 USD). Y’all! These things aren’t just cute packaging, they actually work. These saved my lips during winter and now in Summer as I’ve been exercising out doors (and that Louisiana heat is no joke). I really enjoy the unique scents/flavors that are offered. Cucumber Mint and Lemon Sucker are right up my alley as mint and lemon are two of my favorite flavors.
JSC Cosmetic Bags & Hand Mirrors

I’ve only had the chance to purchase one star hand mirror and one cosmetic bag in the past, as stock runs out super fast. however, I must say the scramble to purchase was worth it cause the quality is awesome. I’ve went through several mirrors and cosmetic bags over the years and none of them held up as well as these. I need that pink jawbreaker one!

Now that I consider it, storing these large hand mirrors can be a hassle. I really hope JSC decides to make some star shaped hand mirror compacts! For now, I have been saving my empty Skinfrost highlighters; those mirrors are so bomb.

Well, that just about wraps up my Wishlist for June 2019! There are so many other yummy makeup goodies on the market, like releases from Tarte (whom I still haven’t purchased from yet) and even Morphe Cosmetics (bu I’m on the fence about them..) I wonder what will debut next!
This may be the year I have to buy a Jeffree Star pallette . Between Blue Blood and Jawbreaker , the colors are insane . I’m leaning a bit more towards Jawbreaker though .
I highly recommend trying JSC shadows at least once. The first two palettes you can’t go wrong with (Beauty Killer/ Androgyny) They both have wearable everyday colors and bold colors too. The quality of all of them are great, it’ll just boil down to color preference. If you’re still on the fence, you can always wait until Black Friday or holiday sales for a discount. As for me, I am going to try and catch it on Beautylish since they payment plans! (Enjoy now and pay overtime, later!!)
