The start of a new year and the change of seasons brings about more than just Flu season and horrible weather; it also brings new makeup releases! I’m always interested in seeing how beauty brands can step up their game (or not!) during this time of year. One brand that I have been keeping my eye on is the unsung hero of drugstore cosmetics, Wet N’ Wild.

If I dig through my memory vault of when I first began wearing makeup, I around the 8th grade (circa 2003), my very first cosmetic was nude lipstick and the brand I tried was Jane. I loved their lipsticks, because they had a sweet lemonade scent to them..a scent that is now copied by Jeffree Star Cosmetics in their Lip Ammunition line. Shortly following Jane was my intro to Wet N Wild! This brand was always easily accessible, being featured in K&B, Rite-Aid, Walmart, Kmart, CVS, and Walgreens. Even though some of these retail chain pharmacy stores are no longer in business, the Wet N Wild brand has not faltered and is still making big moves in the beauty industry, today!
What I like most about Wet N Wild beauty products is that, they have always evolved and kept up with what the beauty community wants in terms of product variety while still maintaining their low price point and mass availability. To be honest, we are all wasting our money spending $50 or more on an eyeshadow palette, when we could purchase Wet N Wild quads and get the same exact look for $5. Yes, I know, we are paying for a “brand name”, extravagant packaging, and a boat load in mark up price to cover advertising…but it’s still a crazy comparison when you think about it.
So, what has our cult favorite drugstore brand been up to lately? Everything. They have been up to everything, is the answer! Wet N’ Wild not only has extended their product line with skin care and beauty tool items, but also their color range! Thank God! In this day and age, it is of utmost importance to have your cosmetics suit as many different skin tones as possible. I always wanted to try Wet N Wild’s foundations, but having 5 light shades in the range is a no go for this brown skin girl. Now, there are over 10 different shades from light to dark (not just “medium brown’, either). I’ve picked up the new PhotoFocus Foundation, PhotoFocus Concealer, and MegaGlo Loose Highlighting Powder as of late. I am still in the process of wearing and testing them out, but for first impressions sake..I’ve enjoyed them, so far.

Okay, so on to the actual reason for this post…my February 2019 Wishlist items from Wet N Wild! I was checking out one of my favorite beauty YouTubers, ThatGirlShaeXO and she showcased the new Limited Edition Rebel Rose collection. I’ve never wanted to go out and buy the entire collection of makeup as badly as I did this one, after seeing her video! There are two PR box type options featured on the WnW website that you can get your hands on now, if you’re interested in the whole thing like I am. Check out Shae’s video for details and a look at how the products work (you won’t be disappointed).
