The later part of 2019 definitely had been taken over by Anastasia Beverly Hills, when it comes to rebuilding my makeup stash. During the Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals, I was able to add Subculture to my collection of ABH goodies for only $28 USD. (Now, it is back to it’s usual price of $45 USD) If you’re looking for a bit of savings, you can sign up for text alerts via the Anastasia website to receive a unique 15% OFF code. Shipping is free over $35 purchase 🙂 I’ve heard mixed reviews about this particular palette, but for such a value of a price I thought I’d try it out and see for myself!

I was drawn to this palette for it’s unique color story. It reminds me of the Juvia’s Place Tribe palette, but with more to choose from. I love a good olive green and gold combo and this palette has that and more! I found the eyeshadow formula to be the same as other ABH palettes I enjoy using, like my beloved Jackie Aina collaboration palette. Rumor has it that after Subculture’s first release and horrible feedback/reviews, the company reformulated the eyeshadows to be better.

Final Thoughts
Rating: 3.5/5
I was pleasantly surprise by this palette in how many dark and sultry looks I could get out of it. I will say though, a lot of the shades seem to oxidize and appear much darker and more saturated than they do in the pan. Colors like Axis (navy blue) and Rowdy (eggplant) look black on my eyes. The yellow, Edge, shows up almost a green shade! It is very odd; which is why I am giving it the 3.5 rating. You never know what eye look you will get when the colors transform like that. Nevertheless, I did enjoy this palette. The quality is very pigmented, easily bendable and last all day just like all my other ABH shades. It’s a great palette for under $30 if you can snag it on sale, but I’d skip it for the regular price tag.
